Acne 101

One of the most trying periods in a teener’s life is the stage when raging hormones give rise to “mountainous ranges” on the face. ” These mounds are what dermatologists call acne. But although, acne problems often begin in the adolescence stage, the condition can persist until adulthood.
Acne is characterized by the inflammation in the sebaceous glands of the skin. The condition can be caused by a whole lot of things, from heredity to hygiene issues.

Causes of Acne problems

Heredity
While it is still not clear what gene plays a role in causing acne, studies have shown family history of acne problems. If, for instance, your parents suffer from acne problems whether during adolescent stages or adulthood, then you will most likely suffer from the same fate.

Hormones
The body’s natural hormones often go on the overdrive during adolescence and other stages where the body is changing its physiological make-up such as during pregnancy. This causes the oil glands to over-function, producing too much oil on the skin.

Hygiene
Bacteria on the skin can also cause infections that may eventually lead to skin swellings. Acne can also occur when oil, dirt and dead skin cells clog the pores. While it is a good idea to wash your face everyday with a mild anti-bacterial soap, too much washing can also cause acne. When people over-wash, their skins may dry up and get irritated. Dryness, in turn, will cause the oil glands to produce more oil than what is usually released, thus, setting the stage for acne problem.

Make-up
Make-up can clog the pores especially when left unwashed after a day’s work. Coupled with oil and dirt, make-up can eventually lead to acne problems.

Diet
Although there are really no specific foods that cause acne per se, the effects that some foods have on the body can eventually lead to acne. Chocolates and nuts, for example, do not directly cause acne but these food items can increase the production of oil by the oil glands, thus aiding in the beginnings of acne. The same is true with greasy foods such as pizza, potato chips, French frieds and other food items that are deep fried. For people who already have oily skin, it is best to avoid oily and greasy foods so as not to exacerbate their predisposition to acne.

Treating acne
For some, acne will eventually disappear when the body regains its former balance during adulthood but for others, who have family histories of acne, the battle can still ensue even after the adolescence period, even well into adulthood.

Treatment of acne takes many forms. Mild acne, for instance, can be simply treated with the use of lotions and topical medicines, which are applied on affected areas. Moderate to severe acne, on the other hand, are often treated not only with topical medicines but also surgical procedures.

Sometimes, it is not even acne that most concerns dermatologists but the scars that the acne will leave behind after the treatment. This is why, may dermatologists advice that people have their acne treated when it is still starting. Treating acne that is already on its terminal stage can be very difficult and traumatic for the skin. Acne that are left untreated for so long can leave scars that cannot be easily removed.

The 6 Key Factors For an Effective Skin-Care Routine in Treating Acne

All acne sufferers should implement a skin-care routine alongside their acne treatment. The products you choose must be carefully selected to complement your treatment, particularly given that they can have a profound effect on the overall state of your acne. So many of today’s acne products have harsh chemicals, which when combined with scrubbing or harsh toners, could make your acne worse.

Try and keep your skin-care routine as simple as possible. This is particularly important if you are already on prescription creams from your doctor, because of the likelihood that they will make your skin red and flaky. Here are some simple skin-care tips you should follow, in order to maximize your chance of tackling your acne:

1. Look for oil free products which will not further block pores in your skin.

2. If your skin is dry and flaky from applying acne creams, try and find an oil free moisturizer, and apply it as frequently as your skin needs it. Because these moisturizers do not contain oils, they do not lock in the moisture as much as their oil containing counterparts.

3. If you’re using a soap free cleanser, ensure that it is ‘balanced’ at around pH 5.5. Try and select one that you apply, foam up and wash off. This type of cleanser will not strip your skin of the natural oils that are present, and required for a healthy complexion.

4. When you wash your face do it with warm water, never hot water. Always finish up by gently patting your face dry, as opposed to scrubbing/rubbing it dry.

5. Exfoliate your skin at least once a week. This will help remove dead skin cells which can sometimes block pores on acne prone skin.

6. Avoid the use of toners. They are often alcohol based, and therefore dry out your skin much more than necessary. This will result in your skin feeling tight, and sometimes tingly.

If you follow these simple guidelines, you are unlikely to go far wrong, and will be well underway to a healthy, acne free complexion.

Great Place to Get a Good Camera

I have been all over the place lately trying to find a good price on a new camera. I am so scared of not finding the best deals that I usually take forever to get something I want. I am very quick to go out and search, but not so quick to purchase. However, I got online the other day and found this brand new website called I’m shopping. They are a really cool place that was selling a casio 10 megapixel camera for much less than I had seen it elsewhere. I am exited to finally have what I have been looking for.

And these days I have been taking a lot more pictures. Pictures have never been my thing, but more and more I cannot get enough. This got me thinking about the camera that I currently use. It is just not as good as I would like. It is only a 5 mega pixel, while the one I want is 10. The official name of the camera is a casio 10 megapixel camera. It comes with a carrying case, and tripod. I am very excited about getting this new camera and showing it off to all of my friends. They will be so excited for me.

Home Remedies that Treat Acne

Acne, which is a skin disorder most common in teenagers at puberty when their hormones are starting to develop. Acne which is often the blight of adolescence is known to follow some people into adulthood.

Eating a healthy diet can be an acne cure for many people but it is definitely a natural acne treatment for everyone. Home remedies are among some of the best treatments for acne. Prescription acne medication can scar if not used appropriately.

When it comes to wearing makeup the natural look is always refreshing. Cosmetic products with sulfates, harsh red dyes, heavy oils are hard on the skin blocking the pores and contributing to an outbreak.

Cleansing creams with chlorides, oils and alcohol used to treat acne can be damaging to the skin because they are sometimes too harsh. It is very important to read the labels carefully before purchasing these products to see just what you are using. Also cleansing your face at least 3 times a day so there is minimal opportunity for pore blockage is one of the best remedies for keeping outbreaks to a minimum.

There are several natural home remedies for acne that you either have in your own kitchen or you can get from the health food store inexpensively. Just because these home remedies are considered natural treatments for acne, does not mean that you should be less cautious than you would be with prescription acne medications or over-the-counter acne products.

You should always check with a doctor before undertaking any home remedy. Some home remedies for acne turn out to be the best treatments for acne in the end simply because they are not as hard on the skin. Home remedies used to treat acne should not only take care of any acne problems that you are having but also moisten and rejuvenate your skin.

GARLIC: Garlic is one of natures strongest antibiotics and used externally by cutting open a clove of garlic and rubbing it on the problem area. People told me that it doesn’t burn but it did. What did work better for me was to crush the garlic clove and mix it with half a cup of hot water in a pan. Soak a clean wash cloth in the solution and then apply to the affected areas only. This should within a few days unclog infected pores. It is smelly and should be done before bed so you can wash it off the next morning.

LEMON: There are several things that you can do with fresh lemon. Slice a lemon in half and rub it on the effected area and leave it over night and rinse your face in the morning or squeeze the juice and mix it with rose water and apply to the effected areas.

TEATREE OIL: Teatree oil usually costs about $9-$12 for an 8 to 12 oz bottle and it works wonders on the skin leaving a very refreshing feeling behind because you can actually feel it working by cleaning the pores of your skin. I recommend that you dilute it with water first before attempting to use it at full strength. The idea is to cleanse and rejuvenate the skin as anything that leaves extreme discomfort is not good for your skin.

CUCUMBER: This is one of the most gentle and refreshing treatments that I have ever used and not only does it help treat acne but also refreshes the skin and leaves your skin looking and feeling younger. What you should do is blend the cucumber into a paste and apply. You can leave it on the skin for 30 to 45 minutes and then wash it off.

ICE: One of the most simple and least expensive remedies of all is good old fashioned ice that you make daily. You can use this at any time and it will reduce any swelling that you have caused by acne but should be used at the onset of a breakout.

There are so many home remedies that I could not even begin to list them all and since everyone’s skin is different you will have to find remedies that work well for you. It is important to know to be careful with your skin.

Many times out of aggravation we burst a pimple when a simple remedy can be the best solution, and don’t leave a scar like poking at a pimple normally does. Your skin is an indication of your health and when you have healthy skin then you are a more confident person.

Acne - Meaning And Introduction

Acne is a type of skin disease that is mainly caused due to the excessive secretion of oil called sebum. Basically, the function of this oil is to regulate the skin texture and body hair by reasonably moistening it. It is produced by the sebaceous glands present in the skin. But, due to excessive lubrication, you easily become prone to the development of congested pores on the skin surface. These pores give rise to various skin bumps such as cysts, blackheads and whiteheads, pimples etc.

There are various types of bumps, which vary in nature. Cyst is a condition where your skin is covered with a tiny sac that is filled with fluid. In the case of whiteheads, the pores get blocked with sebum and protrude slightly outward. When the pores stay open and are filled with sebum, they get darkened from the outside surface, and these are known as blackheads. When the pores get exposed to a different kind of organic matter such as bacteria and other germs, usually a reddish colored swelling will be noticed, and this is known as a pimple.

Acne is commonly found between the age group of 10 to 40 years. You can find a quicker treatment, if you have thorough knowledge regarding the causes and how they should be treated. You can go to a drug store or cosmetic center and find medicines for yourself. In case it is not easy to understand your actual skin condition, you can consult a physician and follow his prescription.

Wholesale Drop Shipping - How It Works

One of the most frequently asked questions on the Net is:
“What should I sell online?”

Many people know what products they want to sell.
However, they don’t know how to do this. Should they
physically stock the products themselves or promote
other companies through affiliate programs?

Drop shipping may be the answer for some website owners
who want to become stockless retailers, whereby they keep
no stock themselves. Instead they promote products on their
website and get a drop shipping company to despatch these
products for them.

Here are the steps involved in drop shipping:

1) You open an Internet Store with a shopping cart
and accept credit cards on your site. You can also
sell on Internet Auction sites such as eBay or on
Yahoo Stores.

2) You find a distributor who will “drop ship” the
products you want to sell.

3) You open an account with the “drop ship” distributor(s)
you choose.

4) You receive descriptions and images of the products you
wish to sell from the distributor and put them on your
Internet Store or Auction.

5) When a customer buys from your Store or Auction, they pay
with their credit card. Your Store or Auction charges their
credit card plus shipping.

6) You email the order to the drop ship distributor with the
customer’s name and address.

7) Then the drop shipper despatches the product to your
customer from the warehouse with YOUR business name on the
package.

8) The drop shipper charges you the wholesale price plus
shipping. Remember you have already passed the shipping
charge on to your customer, so the shipping costs you nothing.

So that’s how drop shipping works. You don’t have to buy
products in bulk and store them, hoping to sell. You don’t have
to pay to have it shipped to you, and then pay again to ship it
to your customer. All you had to do was send an email to your
drop shipper.

However, you must ensure you deal with honest and reliable
drop shipping companies or your business reputation will suffer.

What Should You Sell on eBay?

The short answer is; anything you can get for less than its actual worth.

One way of finding cheap goods to resell is by finding misspelt items listed by other eBayers. Suggesting this tends to get you shot down in flames by non-believers - but it does work.

For example:

Consider one of the most popular video games of the last couple of years - Grand Theft Auto San Andreas.

If, in the middle of 2005, you could’ve bought this game for £10, do you think you could’ve made money? Of course you could, people were more than willing to pay £20 or so on eBay for this game.

Figuring out that many people would spell a word like Andreas wrong, I did a little experiment.

Using an eBay arbitrage tool, such as the one found at http://www.BenCatt.com/arbitrage.php I simply entered “san andreas” into the box and clicked Generate.

I was then given a clickable link which immediately searched all of eBay for misspellings of “San Andreas”.

Typically, each time I did this I would get around 20-30 results.

Next, I simply noted down the worst spelt examples and their eBay item numbers.

The most I was willing to pay for a PS2 version of the game was £11.50 in total i.e. the winning price plus the postage and packing.

So, I saved this search in the “My eBay” section of this site and every couple of days would note down new additions.

After finding the item numbers I then went to http://www.auctionsniper.com and set up automatic bidding on each item in the last 6 seconds for my maximum price.

If the postage for a PS2 version of the game was £2, my maximum bid price was set at £9.50.

The net result was that I was bidding on any misspelt San Andreas game automatically whether I was at my PC at the time or not.

Out of 45 attempts, I won 7 of the games - the cheapest at £8.50, the most expensive at £11.50.

Once I had the games “in hand”, I simply listed them on eBay for a Buy It Now price of between £16.50 to £18.00 with £2 postage charge. Each game was sold within the 10 day listing time for a healthy profit.

Examples of titles of the auctions I bid on were as follows:

Grand theft auto - San Andres

PS2 GAME GTA SANANDREAS

GRAND THEFT AUTO - SAN ADREAS

PS2 Grand Theft Auto San Anderas

My own listing title was optimised to ensure I captured as many potential buyers as possible through the search facility:

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Playstation 2 Game PS2 GTA

No keyword spamming, no ridiculous “L@@K” or “W@W”, just relevant words which an interested buyer would be searching for.

Total profit from the 7 listings after all fees and costs: £29.74 (+ 7 positive feedback points)

As you may or may not know, San Andreas is now available online for £14.99 or less, brand new and so it is not a viable profitmaker anymore. The game went platinum after Christmas and so halved in price.

However, there are plenty of other games which have slightly “complicated” spelling - the titles of which many people will make mistakes in spelling.

Look at the Amazon top 25 every couple of days and note down the titles of the items at the top of the chart. You can do this with any particular niche, just browse to the sections where your interest lies and you will see the “Amazon Hot 25″ list.

For example - the Hot 25 PS2 Games (with spelling mistakes found on eBay in brackets):

TimeSplitters: Future Perfect (TimeSlitters, timespitters,
Timsplitters, timespliters)

Shadow of the Colossus (COLOSSU)

The Chronicles of Narnia (Cronicles)

Star Wars Battlefront II (BATTELFRONT, BATTLEFORNT)

Gran Turismo 4 (Tursimo, TRISMO)

Others:

King Kong (King King, Kingkong)

Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories (LIBERY, LIBERT, LIBETY)

Perfect Dark Zero (prefect)

If you simply find the misspelt items, decide a maximum bid, set up your auction sniper and leave it to run, you will make money.

Of course, video games are just a simple example - your niche may be even more profitable!

Fundraising Ideas Using eBay

Have you thought of using the online auction site eBay as your next major fundraiser?

I have, and it was a huge success!

Like many other businesses the fundraising business has seen an incredible change since the internet. Everyday there are new tools, softwares and websites that are making fundraising not only easier but a lot more fun. One of my favorite fundraising sites is eBay.com

There are many different ways you can take advantage of eBay’s services and use it as a fundraiser:

Selling your member’s junk - This is something I did to fundraise for my son’s preschool. I collected items from member’s attics, closets and garages and sold them on eBay. We rose over $3,000 for our little preschool, which was a lot for us. However, even though I got volunteers to help, it was way too much work. At the time, eBay was my business and I knew what I was doing. I cannot imagine someone who does not know anything about the collecting business or selling on eBay to attempt this.

Selling your member’s junk using a professional eBay seller - Since eBay has become a major profession for many people, there are businesses today that specialize in selling for you. Find such a business and have them do all the work. All you have to do is collect the stuff and they will advertise, sell, and ship the items for you and send you a check. You can find a seller on eBay that lives near you through eBay’s Trading Assistant program, or use a service like Auction Drop or I-Soldit.

New items donated by members - Many times members will donate products rather than money. EBay makes it easy for you to sell these items. Not only will you probably get a better price in a market that has millions of buyers but also this will increase your organization’s visibility and potentially attract new members.

Sell local and national gift certificates - I’ve done this with the preschool auction. Besides selling member’s stuff, we collected local and national gift certificates. Most businesses are very generous and are happy to give you a certificate. If the business that donated the certificate had a website, I put a link to it from the eBay ad. The great thing about listing gift certificates on eBay is that you don’t have to take a picture and the description is easy. However, You MUST advertise the gift certificates: Besides sending out emails to all our members with instructions to forward the email to family and friends, I placed a free ad in the local Santa Cruz Market newsgroups advertising the auction and the gift certificates. You can find newsgroups that are specific for your area.

Sell a calendar or cookbook etc. - eBay has a cool section especially for charity organizations. Go to eBay and check it out by looking for Charity Auctions. I’ve seen some organizations sell their calendar, cookbook, or whatever on eBay. If you have a supply of these items you can have an ongoing auction selling that item (you would have to re-list it every 7 days).

This has great potential for a nonprofit that helps more universal causes like homelessness, Cancer/AIDS, ecology and so forth. Signing up on eBay as a nonprofit organization gets you listed under a special section. Some people browse these lists and will often buy something from the organization just for the support. EBay also supplies nonprofits with their own web page describing the organization with links back to their major site.

Encourage members and friends who sell on eBay to sign up for eBay’s new Giving Works - EBay’s Giving Works program helps sellers to easily donate a portion of their sale to their favorite nonprofit. The seller chooses a nonprofit from a list (or can add a new one) and pledges to a certain percentage of the sale to that nonprofit. The pledged percentage is taken out automatically by eBay after the auction. It could not be any easier.

Frustrated with the usual unorganized school fundraisers Suzanne Wouk turned to the internet in search of a better way. To her amazement and delight, she found so many new and exciting ways to fundraise that she started the site FundraisingMom.com in order to share the information and ideas with others.

When Not To Use “Buy Now”.

As you get more experienced on eBay, you might be tempted to use fixed price auctions, just so you can budget better. It’s often more reassuring to know that either you will make a small profit on an item instead of having to wait and see whether it makes a big profit or a big loss. However, you should be aware that there are some times when you really shouldn’t use ‘Buy it Now’.

In the Holiday Season.

The market goes absolutely crazy just before the holidays - and that’s why you shouldn’t list items using Buy it Now. Do you really want to wake up one morning and find that all your stock has been bought up, the current highest bidders on your rivals are bidding double what you just sold them for, and the people who bought your item have relisted it with a starting price higher than what they paid? Of course you don’t.

I would recommend that you stop listing anything as fixed price as soon as you get into December, unless you have a lot of accumulated stock that you want to get rid of for low prices.

When an Item is In-demand.

If an item is selling within a few hours each time you list it using Buy it Now, then you really ought to consider using a normal auction format instead. The chances are that the final price you’d get would be much higher than whatever you’re charging now.

When You Have the Only Item on the Market.

If you have a hard-to-find item that no-one else is currently selling, then it makes no sense to use Buy it Now. You’ll be surprised just how high buyers will go on things that are truly rare, and how upset they’ll be if someone snatches it away from them using Buy it Now. It’s only fair to give everyone a chance to pay you more and more money, isn’t it?

If Your Item Doesn’t Sell.

If you keep needing to relist your item because it consistently fails to sell, that might be the time to give up on listing it in the fixed price format. Buy it Now only works for things that people always want - traditional auctions involve them more with things that they wouldn’t usually buy. You might end up with a slightly lower price than you wanted in the end, but at least that bad item will be off your hands.

If No-one Ever Buys From You With It.

It’s simply not worth having a Buy it Now button on every one of your auctions if nobody ever touches the thing: it’s just sitting there, costing you money for each listing. When it comes down to it, Buy it Now is expensive, and you should only use it in auctions where you really think it will help the item to sell.

Now you might not have noticed, but there’s another ‘alternative’ auction format that often goes ignored: the multiple-item, or ‘Dutch’ auction. In the next email, I’ll show you how these auctions work, and explain why they could be good for your business.
