DKNY Watch - My Favourite One

DKNY (Donna Karan New York) is a new fashion label owned by the American designer Donna Karan. Together with her husband Stephen Weiss, she founded the label in 1985 in New York, USA. Karan was born on October 2, 1948 in Forest Hills, Queens, USA. She grew up in Long Island and visited in 1966 the New Yorker artist school “Parsons – The New School For Design”.

A lot of new ideas came from Donna’s husband

Donna Karan officiated as head designer and made the characteristic style of DKNY. Her aim was to merge comfort and luxurious elements. While she was evolving her 1st collection, Donna Karan orientated herself on the needs of her family. Particularly her spouse gave her a lot of inspiration and so Donna Karan was capable to release her first menswear collection “DKNY Men” in 1992.

The opening of their premier flagship store took place in London in 1997. Two years later the famous shop at 550, 7th Avenue in New York followed. At the moment, there are more than 70 DKNY stores worldwide including affiliates in China (Shanghai and Hong Kong), Canada (Montreal and Toronto) and even Dubai.

Wristwatches are an essential part of the DKNY collection

The products of the company range from costumes to handbags, baby stuff and shades and include almost all kinds of clothes and accessories. Watches are an important part of the DKNY collection, too. Donna Karan offers different collections for ladies and gentlemen. A few unisex models are produced by DKNY as well.

Designer wrist watches of DKNY are known for their interesting price-performance ratio. They are inexpensive and guarantee also good quality. All the timepieces are crafted and constructed with excellent materials like real stainless steel, silver, gold or leather. The so named “stainless steel watches” belong to the most well-known collection DKNY watches. The wristwatches are as fashionable as their fashion clothes and accessories are. Apropos: Since 2007, watches are along with jeans and underwear the only products of DKNY, that have been online available for men. wristwatches

The War Brought the Wrist Watch

What was one time, in the earliest years of take-away watches, thought to be unsuitable for men and only for ladies, has grown today into a fashion utensil that everybody wants. Meanwhile, the watch is more than a tool to tell which time it is.

The turn of the 20th century on the wrist

With the turn of the 20th century, a different level of technical advancement was given, which made it possible to put the mechanisms in an even smaller space. It was now possible to design the clockworks in such a way that people were able to fasten them to a wristband without a any trouble. The practical application of this innovational breakthrough let the pocket watch to be quickly exchanged by the wristwatch. It quickly became the fashion to wear a wristwatch. It seemed like the models sprouted from the ground and the plurality developed with extended speed. In the early years, however, wristwatches were used only by ladies. Gentlemen did not wear timepieces on their wrists. It just didn’t seem right. The war brought a change of mind concerning this. The soldiers quickly recognized the advantage of a watch on the wrist, which didn’t have to be pulled out of the bag first. And in this way, the wrist watch prevailed with the male sex.

Away from the mechanical - on to electronics

While the first wrist watches were still being wound, some inventions developed in relation to the mechanics. The automatic watch emerged, which no longer had to be wound manually, but was wound automatically through the movement of the watch. Later, at the end of the 20’s, the quartz wrist watch was invented. Time was indicated here by the so-called electronic oscillating circuit. Men wrist watch

Keep Your Jewlery Safe

The best place to hide something is right in front of someone’s eyes. When you have jewelry that should be kept in a safe place, but you don’t want to spend money on those ugly traditional safes, what can you do to protect her jewelry? A hidden compartment safe might be a good solution.

Hidden compartment safes look like real items around the house, but they have enough space in them to keep your jewelry and other personal items. For example, they look like cleaning products or soda cans or books or even electrical outlets.

When shopping around for hidden compartment safes you want to make sure that you buy a safe that looks like a real product you might use. For example, soda cans that are weighted to feel full are more likely to be ignored by an intruder than the ones that are empty and have distinctive rattle of jewelry! If you have one that tends to rattle, pack your jewelry with tissue paper to keep it from rattling around.

Another tactic to keep your jewelry safe is to make sure the hidden compartment safe you are using is a real brand: poorly designed hidden compartment safes use brands that no one has ever heard of, while well designed ones use common products that might be found in nearly every home.

Why are hidden compartment safes so effective? Consider this: an intruder skulking through your dark empty house and doesn’t know what time the homeowners are coming back, is more likely to look through the obvious spots rather than open every book in the bookshelf, shake every pop can in the fridge, or look at every cleaning product under the sink. And they will definitely not pry open every electrical outlet in the house!

This activity is a huge time waster for them, since the likelihood of them finding a hidden compartment safe among several cans of soda is quite rare. That’s what is so great about hidden compartment safes to hide your jewelry. They use such common items that no thief will spend the time searching the house so thoroughly!

Next time you’re thinking about leaving your house, take a look around. You’ve worked hard for your jewelry. Protect those beautiful investments!
