Top 5 Reasons To Go Wireless

Wireless networking is 1 of the greatest new computer technologies in terms of convenience. If you’re weighing the pros and cons of wireless before taking the leap, here are 5 to put in the “pro” column.

#1: No More Wires

Of all the reasons to switch your network to wireless, this is perhaps the most important. Wires are inconvenient, expensive, dangerous, and downright ugly.

No more wires across the floor improves the safety of your home, since it’s easy to trip over exposed wires.

The average Ethernet wire doesn’t cost much per foot, but it adds up quickly. To run wires between rooms or floors, you have to knock holes in the walls, which might not even be an option for renters.

Plus when you move you don’t have the mess of disconnecting all the wires only to re-connect them at the other end. Nor do you have to examine every wire for damage if your internet connection goes down.

#2: Internet Access For All

Wireless networking gives you a cheap, easy way to share 1 internet connection among multiple computers. You can add new computers to your network simply by plugging in a wireless card and switching them on — they get an internet connection immediately!

#3: Share Files And Printers

A wireless network gives you access to your files wherever you are, and makes it easy to synchronize the data of a laptop and a desktop computer. It’s much easier to send files between computers with a wireless network than by email, or CD.

Plus, with the printer connected, you can also write things wherever you happen to be, press print, and go collect them from a printer connected to another computer. Printers plugged into 1 of the network’s computers are shared by all the computers automatically.

#4: Always ON

Broadband revolutionized networking with internet connections being continuously connected — no need to dial in every time. Wireless networking lets network connections be always-on, so any of your computers can connect to the internet whenever you want. Take laptops from room to room or out on the deck — they’ll have an internet connection. Plus, there’s no need for excessive password entry.

#5: Freedom!

With wireless networking, you can even take your computer wherever the signal reaches. Going wireless is much like the switching from the old fashioned wall-mounted telephone to a cellular phone. The freedom is exhilarating.

Underestimating the Value of Free or Low Cost Web Hosting Services and Tools

A variety of free or low cost web hosting services and tools is provided by most web hosting companies. However, in their search for the best web hosting package, many webmasters do a good job of comparing the basic offerings but fail to examine the wide range of additional free or very cheap services and tools offered by their prospective web host.

Overlooked and undervalued

Most web hosts don’t tout these freebies as prominently in their sales copy as they do the basics such as storage space, bandwidth, and tech support. This is simply because they know that most potential customers are only comparison-shopping on the basics.

However, low cost web hosting services and/or free web tools can mean the difference between a robust, customer-friendly web site that supports your expanding business and one that is stuck in low gear just as the traffic begins to increase.

What will you need later?

There is a wide array of these free or nearly-free web hosting services to choose from but first you must know, or at least be reasonably able to predict, the ones you are likely to need when your business grows.

Depending on the nature of your online business you may need some or all of the following:

  • Custom web site design
  • Search engine optimization services
  • Inward and outbound link tracking
  • Visitor counts
  • Free e-mail
  • e-mail forwarding
  • Spam filters
  • Free web templates
  • Free HTML software
  • Free website builders
  • Auto-responders
  • RSS feeds
  • Live chat
  • Shopping carts
These are just some of the many free or low cost web hosting services and tools you should evaluate before committing to any hosting package.

The bottom line

Stretch your dollars by choosing the low cost web hosting plan that provides as many of these value-packed extras as possible so you don’t wind up having to pay full price for them later when your business finally needs them.

Anthony Hamill is the founder of Web-Host-Watch.Com which helps online business owners understand the basics of web hosting. There you’ll find affordable web hosting plans, tutorials, tips on avoiding common mistakes, a glossary of web hosting terms, and a web hosting review that profiles the top hosts in each hosting category.

A visit to the supplier personally before your first transaction will be much more promising, if possible. Web Design do it Correctly and Benefit - Do it Wrong and Flush Away your Cash

Tables and image buttons Versus Layers, CSS links and correctly coding pages to suit all browsers
Well here we go again

How many of you out there use tables to layout your web site’s?

I used to do it and i now think that the table based layout is an waist of time, using CSS and layers is by far a cleaner and more search engine friendly approach to any web site. Why I hear you say, why is it barry ?

Well look at the table based layout, the code involved to layout your pages is cluttered by extra code, the text contained in the page is mostly pushed further down to compensate for the extra tables coding, although it appears to be close to the top of the page in the browser.

Table based layout is not as as cross browser compatible as you may have been led to believe. How many browsers are there these days that actually conform to all the layout rules. Well mostly all of them except Internet Explorer. There are other browsers out there that stick exactly to how the code should actually be presented on screen, looking at internet explorer and coding to suit it using tables will land you in hot water if you come to look at your web site in lets say a FireFox browser.

I have been viewing a couple of sites this week that look totally messed up in the Firefox browser simply because of incorrect usage of tables and not conforming to how tables are properly structured. Tables inside tables inside tables.

The Layers and the CSS? who cares about them?

Future developments on how the internet and its myriad of pages will be presented points towards using Layers and Cascading Style Sheets as a standard to lay out web pages. Being fully cross browser compatible, accessible by every person with a PC, Mobile Phone, PDA or hand held PC is an aspect that your average web designer may not tell you about. The modern design laws tell us we must cater for all aspects of the community and allow every one to access every part of every page.

Using layers to layout a web site makes this task far more simple than using Tables simply because the CSS will allow you to structure your web site in such a manner that from top to bottom the pages and the code will flow. You do not have to use images placed inside little tables to represent flat image based buttons because you can use CSS to make buttons that load faster and present them selves better than an image button. you can also add better descriptive text as links instead which is better for search engine rankings as the search engine can read the link and direct its spiders to the next page, already knowing what the content of the page should be simply because you have told it via your link. Image buttons cant do this.

SO to sum up

use CSS and layers to layout all your fork and your web site will be presented better on screen on every browser. If you use the correct layout procedure you can put your text as close as 1 lines after the tag.

This is impossible with tables as you need to construct your table from the offing

Earning Income with your Blog Site

Affiliate Yourself and Start Earning Income with your Blog Site

The following article presents the very latest information on
blogging. If you have a particular interest in blogging, then
this informative article is required reading.

Not only are there a lot of people out there blogging for fun,
many of them are finding ways to make money by blogging. There
are a number of ways an income from blogging can be achieved,
but one of the most popular is by affiliating your blog. If you
are blogging or considering starting a blog and you are not yet
affiliated, you will quickly find that you should. Otherwise,
you are just leaving money on the table that you may not have
to.

The first thing you may be asking yourself is this: what is an
affiliate program? Well, that is a great question and one easily
answered. An affiliate program is one where the seller offers a
part of the money generated by a sale to those who refer
customers to them. There are, in fact, a lot of websites out
there who are parts of affiliate programs.

With these companies, you need to sign up. You will, in most
cases, be given a unique ID from that affiliate. That ID is for
identifying you as the one who has referred the customer to the
site and made the sale. If, then, you are successful in helping
to sell the product, you receive payment that is generally
stated in whatever your affiliate agreement includes. The amount
you might get paid ranges greatly. You may make as little as one
cent in US dollars or as much as one hundred US dollars
depending on the product, the company, and sometimes the amount
you help to sell.

Hopefully the information presented so far has been applicable.
You might also want to consider the following:

Once you have made the decision to use an affiliate program and
have figured out which one you want to use, then you are ready
to get started. Sign up and register for the affiliate program
and start adding your affiliate’s codes to your blog. Ah, but
there is the next issue: how do you include affiliate links?
There are a few ways you can do that. First of all, you can do
reviews about a product and then link to that product through
your affiliate program (obviously you would need it to be a
product offered by your affiliate program). A second way, if you
don’t want to do a review, is to compile a recommended list that
is either in a blog entry or along the side of your blog. A
third way to get your affiliate program involved in your blog is
to use codes or scripts in your coding that will generate random
links to products in your affiliate program.

Once you have your links and your program in place, it will be
all about product. It is important to note that most people are
not going to keep reading a website if they think it is just all
about selling. Make sure your content, which you update
regularly, is useful to the reader. You want that reader to keep
coming back and hopefully working through your affiliates, so
you really should concentrate on good, solid, useful content
that is going to keep your readers coming back and not make them
feel like they are being sold all the time. If, however, you
really want to sell, you should try to label your site as a
commercial endeavor. Keep those things in mind and your
affiliate program will hopefully help you turn a profit.

No matter what your blogging experience may be, it is possible
that you can blog for fun and profit at the same time. There are
a number of ways to make a profit off of your blog, but the most
common right now is to affiliate yourself with certain other
sites and products. Affiliate programs generally cost little or
no money and can help you make money on your own. They are
basically a way of getting commission from helping someone to
sell a product or service. So find the ones that work with the
theme of your blog and get those codes up on your site. Once
they are up, make sure you are finding ways to drive traffic to
them without going overboard on the selling and making sure your
content is useful. Stick with these tips and stays focused and
before you know it, your blog can become a success through the
use of a good affiliate program.

If you’ve picked some pointers about blogging that you can put
into action, then by all means, do so. You won’t really be able
to gain any benefits from your new knowledge if you don’t use it.
